HL2DM - Potty Training

Ahh... my minimal faith in valve paid off... If nothing else they're producing nice artwork. I (and everyone else with a hl2 copy) can't wait to play.

World Of Warcraft out tomorrow - 11/23/04

Anyone that knows me pretty well, Rob included, knows that I've been firmly against subscription based games (under which most MMORPG's fall). This has largely been due to the manner of games that have been available. Everquest, Dark Ages of Camelot, etc, all seemed to have the same problem for me, mainly that it took forever to level up and you'd have to go kill hundreds if not thousands of the same monster to reach new levels. This isn't that fun in my opinion, so I wouldn't pay a monthly fee for a game like this.

Well things have changed, and I'll admit it, I'm going to be paying for a subscription based game. Recently, I was lucky enough to get into the World Of Warcraft open beta. Unlike all other MMORPG's I'd tried, WOW puts much, much more focus on completing quests than on just monster killing. You can easily out-level a player who simply goes around and kills monsters by completing the quite well written quests in the games, which makes it an enjoyable experience. Add in excellent graphics, amazing world detail, "killer" PVP interaction, guilds, and Blizzard has got me hooked. I randomly met up with several other players during the test and we had a really great time, so I'm looking forward to exploring more of Azeroth with them.

HalfLife2 / Metroid Out Tomorrow

sounds of a loud western traingle will be goin off tomorrow mornin' at
the local video game stores
"come n' git it". After seeing the unimpressive lineup for halo2 at my
local westlake electronics boutique, I question the ability of gamers in
the later nerd ages to come out on the lunch break and grab their copy
of the latest duo of games.

Having ordered HL2 on Steam and without a gamecube, i'll probably be
missing from the lineup too.

I've only got meetings in the afternoon... maybe i'll check out hl2
tomorrow morning :)

November 20th Halo 2 Party

Ben's got a halo2 xbox party. Far enuff away to give everyone a
chance to beat it on single player first. :)

Let's plan for a start time of 6 PM PST on November 20th. Please feel
free to bring an Xbox, TV/monitor (if you'd like to play on your own
set) and/or projector. I'll try to make room for 3 projectors if we
have that many volunteers to bring them.

We have a lot of beer left over from previous parties, hopefully you
guys will take the time to drink it all this time.

We'll try to supply burgers for everyone, but we'll need a couple
volunteers to bring chips/dip and pop. Please let me know if you'd
like to volunteer and I'll coordinate that.

Halo 2 is out Tomorrow!

As a frequent (much too frequent) halo player back in the old days of UW
CSE, I managed quite a many addictive hours of gaming between / instead
of / after classes. Anyways, I'll be rounding up a brand spankin' new
copy of Halo2 when it becomes available tomorrow. Those interested in
checkin' it out on da skreen are welcome. (i look forward to shooting
you :D)
